The perfect pair of jeans? Is it true?

Image

We have all been through that stressful time in our lives where we are just looking for that one perfect pair of jeans. It’s a difficult time that can take a lot of persistence, patience, and endurance. After long hours in the dressing rooms and all of the money spent on jeans that do not help your figure, some people have taken years and years to find the perfect fit. Jeans are a piece in your wardrobe that is a staple and will never go out of style. Because you are going to be wearing jeans your whole life, you should find which style best fits you! Lets face it, everyone is unique in their own way and sometimes small, medium, and large just doesn’t cut it!

Image

Pear Shaped.

Pear shaped girls have hips that are wider than their shoulders. They tend to have a larger rear end and a smaller bust. Look for a low rise flare or straight trouser. This will help even out the bottom and help camouflage the hips. Make sure to avoid tapered or really tight jeans.

Image

Apple Shaped.

Apple Shaped gals have the body in the shape of a “V”. They tend to have broader shoulders and narrow hips. They also tend to have slim legs and a fuller chest and abdomen. Look for a sexy boot cut pair of jeans. Make sure

to avoid super skinny and high waited trousers, which will draw negative attention to your middle section.

Petite.

Petite girls are normal short and small. To give the appearance of length, be sure to look for boot cut sexy skinnies or flares with tailoring. Avoid any oversized buttons and pockets. Also do no wear any cropped cuts or capris, as these will make you look shorter.

Image

Hourglass.

Ladies who possess an hourglass shape are curvy. The bust and the hips are almost equal in size, however the waist is noticeably smaller which helps create a balance all over. To accentuate your shape, go for a wide legged trouser or a pair of jeans with some stretch in them. Make sure to avoid any jeans that are too baggy.

Image

Tall.

For the girls who are lanky and lean any style suites you! Look for low rise to give proportion or high-waisted jeans to give a longer look. Straight leg, boot cut, or flare, any style works well for you!

Image

Athletic.

For girls who have a toned boyish shape, you would look best with a pair of jeans that give you more curves. Look for mid-rise jeans with a slight boot cut or flare that is fitted around the thighs and more relaxed around the ankles.

– – –

Its hard to find the perfect pair of jeans, but depending on your body size hopefully this can help lead you in the direction. When a person finds that one pair of jeans that looks great on them it boosts their confidence over the border line. Not only do we feel great, but we look great too!

Now I want to hear from all of you! Tell everyone down below which jean style best fits your shape!

Best (and worst!) Dressed: Academy Awards 2013

If you were not watching the Academy Awards this past Sunday to see what movies and actors won awards, you were watching it for the amazing fashions on the red carpet!  The oscars are one of the few special nights out of the year that everyone in the industry has the most incredible excuse to dress up in beautiful dresses and dashing suits.

Here are my best dressed of the night!

Image

Jessica Chastain looked absolutely perfect in Armani Prive.  This dress was completely covered in light pink beads over a light copper fabric.  The fit was perfect and I love the sweetheart neckline on Jessica.  Her hair and make-up were beautiful, as she was going for an “old- hollywood” look.

Image

Amy Adams looking flawless in Oscar de la Renta.  I cannot get over how beautiful this dress looks on the red carpet!  I am loving the muted grey chiffon color, along with the silhouette of this dress.  It has a sweet, yet edgy vibe that almost reminds me of a modern day Cinderella.  Amy’s hair looks great pulled up and I think her simple make- up works perfectly with this dress.

Image

Naomi Watts rocked this Armani Prive dress!  I love the sparkle in this darker grey color.  And lets just talk about how insanely cool that cut out is!  Although the strapless look was trending on the carpet this oscars, I am obsessed with this neckline.  Because this dress is so eye catching, Naomi did the right thing by pulling her hair back and having minimalistic make- up.

Image

Charlize Theron looked absolutely stunning in Dior Couture.  I love how the all white look is so dramatic against that red carpet, and with the right dress it makes such a statement.  I can’t think of a better adjective other than “super cool” when describing this look.  The neckline, the hint of peplum, the color, and the little bit of embellishment; it is just amazing! And her hair, or should I say lack of!  She pulls off the pixie cut so well it’s not even funny.  I cannot get over how extraordinary she looked!

Here are my worst dressed!

Image

Anne Hathaway in Prada.  I hate to bash on Anne, since I have so much love and respect for her, but this dress is awful.  The color is nothing special, the neckline looks dated, and the pleating on her bust could not look worse.  She did not need to wear any necklace, let alone the chocker she wore (it is too close to the neckline of the dress). I believe that I can speak for many when I say that I wish she would not have changed her mind from the original Valentino she was planning on wearing.

Image

Kerry Washington in Miu Miu.  I love the color of this dress, but I cannot seem to look past the embellishments on the bust and the bow around the waist.  Personally, I think those extra touches make this look cheap and tacky, rather than expensive and beautiful.

Now I want to know who your best and worst dressed were!! Let me know by leaving a comment below!

Eyebrows: More important than you think!

I have been loving the “bold” brow trend lately both in beauty and on the runway, and it makes me so happy that finally we’re starting to pay some attention to our friends up there!

No more are the days of pencil-liner think eyebrows (which I was guilty of back in the day), and in are the days where the bolder the brow the more beautiful. As a makeup artist, to me the brows are the most important part of a makeup routine since they frame the face and can make anyone look polished and put together. So when this picture popped up on my newsfeed on Facebook, I not only cracked up for about 20 minutes, but also realized I had to share my eyebrow routine with you guys!

How hilarious is this picture?

Image

Creepy but hilarious right?

To avoid looking like a brow-less Kim K, follow my easy steps to some awesome looking brows!

1.First you need a spooling brush, an angled liner or brow brush, an eyeshadow close to your natural hair color, and your favorite concealer and concealer brush. If you find that your eyebrows tend to go crazy during the day and you need them to stay in place, go for a brow gel as well!

Image

2. Second you want to take your spooling brush and brush through your brows to get them all prepped for the shadow.

Image

3. Third take your brush that has already been dipped in your shadow. You want to lay it vertically on the side of your nose pointing straight up and make a small mark were your brows should begin. Next, angle the brush from the same position so that it crosses the middle of your iris. Here make another mark where the highest point (arch) should be drawn. Finally, angle the brush all the way so that it lands at the outer corner of your eye. Here make your last mark where the brow should end.

ImageImageImage

4. Fourth, you want to start drawing a line from the bottom inner corner of your brow where you drew your line, and drag it out all the way to the outer corner.  Use small short strokes, and apply as much pressure as you want so that you get the intensity of the color desired. It’s like your playing connect the dots!

Image

5. Now that you have your starting line, you want to continue filling the brow not going to past the guideline that you drew. Finally, when you are done you can go back with your concealer and clean up all those lines and edges so that your brows stand out and look clean and perfect.

Image

Woooo hoo! You are done! If you want to go back and apply a coat of your favorite brow gel you can certainly do so.

I hope you guys enjoyed this brow tutorial and are ready to rock some bold and glam brows! Let me know if you want to see more tutorials, or if you have any of your own brow tips and tricks that I am missing! I love learning something new 🙂

Until next time!

Only The Essentials

ImagePurses are a very important part of a woman’s life.  They’re fashionable, they hold everything we need, and they play as a confidential and sacred item.  We need our purses but at the same time we are often talked about for our clutter and unnecessary purse sizes.  Here are some ways to clear everything out the way.

How much money am I trying to spend?

  • Never spend unnecessary amounts of money on a purse.  Especially if you don’t “need” it.   I always check thrift shops first because a lot of times people give away quality items and they are sold for cheap. If not there then I look at other stores.  Keeping in mind that I want a good purse that will last a decent amount of time. *tip-change purses once a week to keep from damaging a single purse from constant use.*

What kind of purse do I go for?

  • For everyday use it is best to have a purse with compartments and not just have a big open space.  That is how items get lost.  But if a woman insists on having a purse with a lot of open space and no compartments then I suggest having pouches for different groupings of things in your bag.  This way things aren’t just swimming around and it helps with mysterious crumbs and spilling makeup.  Or you could use a purse organizer if that works for you.

What to keep in my purse?

  • Only keep the necessary items in your purse.  These items include but are not limited to: tissue, hand sanitizer, a planner, make-up, phone, nail kit (or just a clipper and file), mints or gum, emergency period kit (just in case), lotion, deodorant,  and lip treatment.  The smaller the purse the more decisive you have to be.  I usually only have my wallet, lotion, tissue (in winter), and my chap stick when I’m using a tiny or thin purse.

How to keep it clean after I’ve cleaned it?

  • Always put things back where they belong.  When you go to the stores put your receipts in your wallet and keep your money in its proper place.  Try not to put unsealed food or drinks in your purse because that can only end badly.  Also, try to keep up with tiding your purse to make sure it doesn’t get cluttered again.Image

A clean and organized purse makes life less stressful and that is the goal.  So I hope this helps and enjoy!!!

Beauty: Looks from the 2013 Grammy Awards I’m still obsessing over!

The hype from the Grammy’s may be slowing down, but I find myself still obsessing not only over the fashion from the show, but also the hair and makeup! The majority of the celebrities received an A+ in my  grade book for their overall looks.

Here are some of my favorite looks that I love and want to recreate!

Rihanna

Image

Keeping the Obmbré trend still going strong, Rihanna rocked her effortless yet sexy waves. The color of her lipstick matched perfectly with her stunning dress, and the whole look is pulled together by the subtle smoky eye with a coppery eyeshadow. The overall look is simple, but makes her look glamorous and very pulled together.

AdeleImage

Lashes, lashes and more lashes! Adele didn’t disappoint to make a statement while staying true to her glam and very mod 70’s style. With such a busy dress, her makeup had to be simple to compliment it, and that is exactly what she did. You are immediately drawn to her gorgeous eyes with those mile-long lashes and her signature winged eyeliner. The look is finished with a glossy nude lip. Love this one!

Beyonce

ImageWhen doesn’t Beyonce ever not look like a million bucks? She wen’t with a similar look like Rihanna’s including the coppery-smoky eye complimented by the classic red lip. Her skin looked flawless and dewy. My favorite part of this look, is her slicked back hair in a low, center-part pony. It makes her looked so polished and the best part is that we don’t need a hair stylist to recreate this one on our own!

Katy Perry

ImageBoy, was I happy to see Katy Perry without some crazy color on her head! She looked beyond glamorous on that red carpet, and that shiny long mane looks beyond amazing on her and makes her eyes completely pop! I am loving the simple eye makeup with just a shimmery champagne color all over the lid smoked out with a coppery brown. The falsies and nude lip pull this look together.

I hope you guys liked these looks, and try to recreate them at home just like I have been! Comment below to let me know which one was your favorite, and if you loved them as much as I did!

Coffee Table Styling Tips

104919866289031856_hccundij_f

Your coffee table should be two things: stylish and functional.  Here are a few tips to create the most perfect, chic, and girly table out there!

Books:

  • Choose books that have a fun and appealing cover; something that guests (or even yourself!) will want to pick up, while still looking cute and fun on it’s own.
  • Choose books that are different sizes.  This is the key to that clean, yet messy pile.  Three books is a good amount to use, just make sure you start with the largest on bottom, and work your way up.
  • Choose books that are picture heavy.  Let’s be honest, none of your guests are going to want to read a novel at your house.
  • Some of my favorite coffee table books include The Satorialist Closer by Scott Schuman, Fashion Bites by Vic Riches, Decorate Workshop by Holly Becker, Gypset Travel by Assouline, and (for the men out there) The Art Of Fixing Things by Lawrence E. Pierce.

Objects:

  • On the other side of your table, place a tray to hold smaller objects.  You can try out a few different shapes and styles until you find the right one.
  • Fresh flowers in a fun vase are a great statement piece to put on the tray.  You can change the color you choose week- by- week or keep it simple with a pretty refreshing white.
  • To fill the rest of the tray, grab some little items around your house that are meaningful and engaging.  These can be anything from a nice smelling candle, to a pretty sculptural element.
  • I like to change up my items every so often, but I do always keep cool coasters on the table.  These are here for both function and decoration.
  • Some of my favorite places to shop for these fun little trinkets include, Anthropologie, Art Effect, Terrain, Shopbop, and flea markets!
  • Make sure not to over- crowd the tray; the trick is to make it look effortlessly styled, not cluttered.

I hope this inspires you to create that dream coffee table you have been wanting! Be creative and have fun!
